Why is there no Hot Water?
Hot water woes are one of the least desirable home headaches. You can attempt to handle the repair yourself or call a pro (NE Ohio only).
When there is no hot water it usually means the water heater is at fault. There are a few things you can try to rectify the problem. First, determine if it is gas or electric. If it electric it can only be a breaker or a inoperable heating element. If electric check the breaker to see if it is in the off or "tripped" position. If not it may be a faulty heating element.
For gas, try the following (Details below);
- Make sure the gas is on to the water heater.
- Water heaters need a continuous supply of fresh air-check to see
there are no obstructions (dust, boxes, junk) at the bottom of the water heater.
- The thermocouple may be at fault (very common)
- May be a thermostat or computer brain ailment if a newer heater.
- Exhaust vent may be blocked or improperly sized.
