Regarding the 2009 and 2013 Breyers logos

[edit]

After realizing I sadly don’t know/have the copyright status for both logos, I decided it’d be best if I request if they can be deleted instead. Nomination pages have been added and they’re up on the May 18 deletion request log. RobloxMiner$$ (talk) 05:04, 19 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

@RobloxMiner$$: They were already deleted.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 12:57, 19 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

How can I delete edit summary history

[edit]

Hello Mr. @Jeff G., when I make an edit on Wikipedia and click the "Publish" button, it asks me to enter an edit summary, and I do. However, my previously written edit summaries appear again in that field. How can I delete these old summaries? These are not stored in browser cookies. EDCrasher (talk) 14:26, 21 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

@EDCrasher: These are due to an automatic (ostensibly helpful) feature of your browser; look in your browser's documentation.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 14:51, 21 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately, at first I thought this was caused by the browser’s autofill feature. However, when I tried it on a different browser, I noticed that the summaries I had previously written were still there. EDCrasher (talk) 14:59, 21 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@EDCrasher: Then I am at a loss; try asking at COM:HD or m:Help Forum.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 15:06, 21 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism warning?

[edit]

Hi Jeff G.,

I saw your contribution to my usertalk page. You have send me a vandalism warning. I really don't understand this. The file you are linking to is completely unknown to me. As you may see in my track record I have never made willfully any unconstructive edits here, or on other Wikimedia-projects, in the last 18 or so years. So I was a little bit shocked. Can you please explain what went wrong? Many greetings, --Dick Bos (talk) 08:51, 28 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Dick Bos: Sure. In addition to what I wrote at Special:Diff/1221308676, in Special:AbuseLog/13832538 et al, I see that you tried to blank the file description page for File:Hooker1854HimalayanJournalsVol1Image p357.xcf four times as a new user, and then complained because that was not working. Our administration team feels that what you tried is not warranted, and you should have tagged the page {{G7}} instead.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 11:32, 28 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
(talk page stalker) @Jeff G.: how does "as a new user" fit someone whose first edits here were in 2008, and who has almost 10,000 edits? - Jmabel ! talk 03:29, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Jmabel: I have used "new" as a simplification (in this case of "not autopatrolled" AKA '!("autopatrol" in user_rights)') for nine years since Special:Diff/313602667 (although at that time it meant '(user_age < 3600*24*180 | user_editcount < 50) & !("confirmed" in user_groups)' AKA "under 180 days old and with less than 50 edits and not confirmed") per Special:AbuseFilter/history/153/item/1343. Would you prefer another wording regarding Special:AbuseFilter/313 or generally? Evidently "not autopatrolled" in my initial edit on this matter Special:Diff/1221308676 was insufficient for Dick Bos.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 04:31, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Dick Bos: Jeff is right that you should not blank a page when nominating it for deletion. It can waste admin time, because they have to look through the history to get any sense of what is going on. - Jmabel ! talk 03:29, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Dick Bos: You may request COM:AP at COM:RFR when you think you are ready (now that you have made more than 500 useful non-botlike edits); having that should allow you to bypass that filter.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 05:41, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Jeff: at this point he seems so clearly into the "should be autopatrolled" range that "new" seems really inappropriate. Just a matter of his applying for it. And, at least in retrospect, this clearly wasn't vandalism, it was just doing a thing in a minorly wrong way when he was right about the big picture. - Jmabel ! talk 12:25, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Jmabel: Thank you. I undid my warning.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 12:46, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
