backyard, for it is the gateway to fine handcrafted wood products that one can find in so many homes of
the area. The Amish craftsman are known by their skills with crafting wood, and the locals know it well.
When Amish families settled here many years ago it was a mutually beneficial relationship with the rich
resources inherent in the fertile land. For the maker of fine doors it is the land that offers up glorious
hardwood trees. For the land it is the Amish caretaker who thoughtfully replants the seeds of that parent
tree to produce an even finer quality of hardwood.
So why should hardwood matter?
The hardwood in this area grows where the soil is rich, the climate superb with the right amount of sun
and rain that allows the trees grow tall and sturdy. It is this fine quality lumber that is transformed into
lasting beauty in the handcrafted wood products. In this part of the country the work ethic is strong and
pride of workmanship is the rule. The Amish craftsman, many of whom work in two or three man shops

fine craftsman have been handed down through the generations. Give an Amish craftsman a tree and

techniques which have been handed down from
earlier generations of craftsman. The doors are
heavy-duty, solidly-built and will withstand years of
weathering and use.

Locally Grown Trees are a Renewable Resource
Worldwide, enormous tracts of virgin forest are being felled for paper pulp production,
contributing to the world's tragic deforestation trends. Fortunately the locally grown trees of
oak, maple, fir, cherry and other hardwoods are in plentiful supply. The harvesting is
carefully balanced with new growth taken into consideration. We support any efforts that
keeps the land intact for future generations.

Multiple rows of wood strips are glued with two-part resins and saturated throughout. The strips are
and are removed only after the glue has completely hardened. From here the panels will run through
planers. Planers are machines that remove top layers a little at a time until the desired thickness is
achieved. Once complete a panel is ready to be made into a new door.
